Mindfulness Training Enhances Brain Function in Older Adults

A new study published by Scientific Reports has found mindfulness training can enhance neural processes associated with attention in older adults. Researchers examined the effects of an 8-week mindfulness program on brain activity using electroencephalography (EEG) in older adults.

The study found that after six months of training, participants in the mindfulness group showed enhanced neural activation during early stages of visual processing. This improvement was associated with better performance on attention tasks.

These findings suggest that mindfulness training may help counteract age-related declines in attention by improving the efficiency of neural pathways involved in visual processing and enhancing the ability to focus.
